Feedback & Feature Requests
All software benefits greatly from user feedback and feature requests. We encourage people to provide feedback via the community channels.
Please do not open feature requests on GitHub without first discussing it with the community. 🙏
How To Provide Feedback
Section titled “How To Provide Feedback”Open a thread to describe what the problem is, what a possible improvement could be and how are you willing to help. For example:
- “I’m willing to help with testing”
- “I’m willing to pay to fix this”
- “I’m willing to provide test data”
- “While I can’t offer any help, I hope this will get considered”
WebODM is free and open source. Demanding that something gets fixed or improved is not going to convince people to do so. Suggesting that something be improved is a much better way to begin a feedback discussion.
How To Make Feature Requests
Section titled “How To Make Feature Requests”Along with the feedback guidelines above, disclose if you are a hobbyist or use WebODM professionally. Feature requests are not the same as “requests for free developer time”. If you make money with WebODM and you need a feature, please offer to fund, at least in part, the feature you’re requesting.
We understand it can be tricky or difficult to get funding for open source software and we will consider all feature requests, regardless of funding availability. Just please disclose upfront the nature of your request (work vs. hobby).
We also welcome code contributions to implement features, if funding is not an option. See Contributing.
